Crawley Borough Council have launched a new campaign aimed to reduce the number of incidents of fly tipping in Crawley.

In 2014 alone, over 1,800 reports of fly tipping were made to the council, which cost around 75,000 to remove.

The council are especially focusing on some of the most common areas for fly tipping in Crawley, including Bewbush, Broadfield, Furnace Green, Gossops Green, Pound Hill and Southgate.

Community wardens have been instructed to knock on doors to explain how waste can be disposed of legally and responsibly. Including:

Anyone found to be fly tipping in Crawley can find themselves with an £80 fixed penalty for small items and up to a £50,000 fine and even a prison sentence for large amounts of waste.
