If you are not sure on any aspects of hiring a skip you can contact us for guidance. Here are the answers to some of our most commonly asked questions:

Skip size 

It can be difficult to know which skip size will best suit your requirements. Our suppliers have a range of sizes for you to choose from.

• Starting from the 2 yard mini skip (best for small amounts of soil, hardcore and mixed waste.)
• Midi skips (ideal for bathroom and kitchen refits.)
• Builders skips (house clearances and refurbishments.)
• Maxi skips and industrial containers (for large commercial projects).  

Do you need a permit?

Firstly, you will only need a permit if your skip needs to be placed on the road or other council owned property.

If the skip is to be placed on private property such as a driveway or garden you will not need to worry about applying for a permit.

Contact us if you are unsure and to find out how much the permits are in your area. You can also contact your local council for further advice on skip permits.

How long you can keep a skip 

The maximum hire period is usually 2 weeks.

If you know you will need it for a shorter time we can book it in to be collected earlier.

Also, let us know if you will need it for a longer period and we can normally arrange this with the supplier. 

Waste types permitted

Most materials are fine to go into the skip. Including paper, cardboard, textiles, metal, plastics, furniture and general mixed rubbish. 

Items that cannot go in the skip and could incur a fine if found include, asbestos, paints, oils, tyres, fridge freezers and clinical waste. If you are unsure of anything let us know!
